Microsoft says Rockstar Games has fixed a known issue affecting its launcher, preventing the game Red Dead Redemption 2 (RRD2) from launching on some Windows 11 systems.

The issue only affects players who launch RRD2 through the Rockstar Games Launcher on Windows 11 21H2 systems after installing the KB5023774 Optional March 2023 preview update.

Microsoft also offers a workaround for customers who have not enabled automatic updates or cannot immediately install the launcher patch.

“If you want to upgrade to Windows 11, version 22H2, open Windows Update settings and select Check for updates. If your device is ready, you’ll see the option to download and install,” Microsoft said.
