Windows 11

Microsoft has released Windows 10 cumulative updates KB5027215 and KB5026435 for versions 22H2, version 21H2, version 21H1, and 1809 to fix issues and add new features to the operating system.

Because these updates contain security updates released as part of the June 2023 Patch TuesdayMicrosoft will automatically install the update over the next few days.

However, you can install them manually now by going to Settingsclicking on Windows Update, and selecting ‘Check for updates.’

What’s fixed in the June 2023 updates

With the release of KB5027215 update, Windows 10 22H2 will have its build number changed to 19045.3086 and Windows 10 21H2 will be changed to 19044.3086.

This is a relatively small cumulative update, with Microsoft spending most of its development time on Windows 11 and only making bug fixes on Windows 10.

With this update, Microsoft has added an improved search experience to the Windows 10 taskbar. If you have a top, bottom, regular, or small icon taskbar, you’ll see the search box appear.

You can use this new experience to access apps, files, settings, and more from Windows and the web.

Microsoft has also added the latest search updates, such as the search highlight feature. If you want to restore your previous search experience, you can do so easily by using the context menu on the taskbar or by responding to a dialog box that appears when you use search.

Additionally, the Windows 10 update now allows you to have up to three high-priority toast notifications simultaneously. This means that there can be three high priority notifications and one normal priority notification.

Here is a list of other fixes introduced as part of this update:

  • This update fixes an issue that affects access to tab settings for sites in IE mode.

  • This update resolves an issue with the Multi-Function Label Printer. This affects the installation of some of them.

  • This update fixes an issue that affects the touch keyboard. Sometimes it doesn’t show the correct layout based on the current input scope.

  • This update fixes an issue that sometimes prevented the touch keyboard from opening.

Microsoft has only listed one long-standing issue with this update: custom offline media or ISO images may have Microsoft Edge Legacy removed but not replaced with the new modern Microsoft Edge browser.
