Microsoft is investigating an ongoing issue preventing Outlook.com users from searching their email and triggering 401 exception errors.

When searching, users see an error that says, “Sorry, something went wrong. Please try again later.”

“Our initial review of Outlook.com server logs, alongside logs in HTTP Archive (HAR) format captured during an internal impact replication, indicates that 401 errors are occurring due to an exception when users attempt to perform the search,” Microsoft says on the Services Health Portal.

“We are continuing to investigate to confirm the source generating these exception errors and determine methods to remediate the impact.”

The outage began nearly 11 hours ago at 00:30 UTC, and Microsoft is expected to provide more details in the coming hours.

According user reportsthe search function no longer works on the web, while the mobile version does not seem to be affected.

Others reported having trouble contacting Microsoft 365 personal support, being caught in a loop of sign-in prompts and Office 365 service choices.

The company has yet to provide information on which regions are affected by this ongoing research outage.

June 27, Redmond tackled another problem preventing customers across the Americas from accessing their Exchange Online mailbox through Outlook on the web.

Earlier in June, Microsoft also confirmed that some of its services, including Outlook.comTHE Azure portalAnd OneDrivewere destroyed by DDoS attacks claimed by a threat actor known as Anonymous Sudan (said to have ties to Russia).
