Twitter confirms day zero is used to expose data from 5.4 million accounts

Twitter users are currently experiencing issues around the world with users unable to use the website and mobile apps.

When trying to access the Twitter website, users see “Welcome to Twitter!” on the timeline. The alert, typically used for new signups, reads: “Twitter is the best place to see what’s happening in your world,” along with a Let’s Go button that lets you follow certain people and topics.

It’s worth noting that Twitter.com is still accessible and you can send new tweets, but you can’t load a timeline or browse through tweets.

This outage started within the last 20 minutes, according to reports.

It is unknown if this is a planned maintenance activity, a problem with their servers or if the networks are under attack.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
