US television giant and satellite streaming provider, Dish Network, has mysteriously gone offline as its websites and apps have stopped working for the past 24 hours.

The widespread outage affects Dish.com, the Dish Anywhere app, and several company-owned websites and networks. Customers also suggest that the company’s call center phone numbers are unreachable.

Additionally, customers face authentication issues when logging into TV channel apps such as MTV and Starz using their Dish credentials.

Remote Dish Network employees have been cut off from accessing their work systems.

Dish Network websites and apps, including Dish.com, DishWireless.com and Dish Anywhere, are facing an extended outage, with customers unable to access their accounts or stream TV online:

BleepingComputer also observed that the Dish Anywhere Android app had connection issues:

Customers have also reported experiencing issues when trying to pay their bills or by calling customer service centers.

“Dish Answers,” the company’s Twitter support account says “an internal system issue is impacting some of our customer service operations,” and the network is down. working hard to restore access.

A report published by The edge also shows an internal email sent to Dish Network employees, management notifying them of an ongoing “VPN issue”.

Two sources told the outlet they were asked to “stand by” for information from management but were left in the dark.

“They say it hasn’t even been specified if they will be paid,” the report said. “Employees have also been informed that they will not be able to connect to their VPN, which will prevent remote workers from connecting to work.”

Employees report it is a cyberattack

A source in contact with a Dish Network employee told BleepingComputer that the network “has been hit” (by a cyberattack) with employees seeing “empty icons” on their desktops, which usually happens after an infection. by ransomware encrypts victim’s files.

A few hours after this article was published, another Dish Network employee contacted us stating that Dish had indeed been “cyber-attacked”.

The employee reports receiving a written message from his manager stating that the incident “was caused by an outside bad actor, a known threatening agent” and that the company does not know how he gained access to it.

The email goes on to say that the company is working with an outside vendor to resolve the issue.

BleepingComputer emailed Dish Network’s press team prior to publication, but it’s unclear if they have access to their emails during this incident. Before that, we tried to reach Dish by phone, but got no response.

An automated response sent to us from the “Dish Answers” Twitter account reiterated the “internal system issue” the company was facing.
